Carolyn B. Steigner

Carolyn B. Steigner

West Columbia, South Carolina

Carol was an army brat growing up and attended 12 different schools in 12 years. Her father's family was from rural Charleston County and he retired there after he ended his military career. Carol graduated from Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia in 1963 and from USC in 1975 with a degree in journalism. She worked in the insurance field for a period of time then received her law degree from USC in 1978.

Carol's interests run to sports, games , reading and doting on her grandchildren. Although she is a vegetarian, she lives with the various animal heads that Jon has brought home over the years, including an elk head from Canada. Early in Carol's career, she appeared in a newspaper article in the State about successful women lawyers.

Carol has handled all manner of cases in her career from proving the existence of a Will that had disappeared to successfully defending a policeman charged with a crime. She has primarily been involved in family court in the last twenty years. She has written articles and spoken at seminars on the subject. She was one of the first attorneys to become certified as a mediator and believes so strongly in the process that she convinced a sitting judge to order it more than twenty years ago. She is interested in helping clients solve their problems and easing their way down the litigation highway.
