Possible wrongful death after South Carolina bridge accident

Unfortunately, there may be occasions when drivers have problems with broken-down vehicles. In some cases, a person might push a vehicle out of traffic to get it to a safer place. Instead of reaching safety, a South Carolina man was recently killed while pushing his disabled car across a bridge. As more information is discovered regarding the incident, survivors of the victim may consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit.

The Greer Police Department reports that a 20-year-old Simpsonville man was pushing his car on a bridge. As he was moving his vehicle, he was struck from behind by another car. Coroner reports shows that the man was killed by impact and was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. The person who was steering the car across the bridge was also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for several hours following the incident. No charges have been filed at this point, but the crash remains under investigation. Both the Greer Police Department and the coroner's office are participating in the investigation.

While it is difficult to lose a loved one in any circumstance, it is even more devastating when the loss could have been avoided. As possible with the incident on the bridge, a driver may have exhibited negligent, reckless or distracted behavior. In those situations, survivors may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A South Carolina personal injury lawyer can help survivors with seeking compensation for their loss. A knowledgeable attorney will work with families to achieve the best possible outcome in the litigation.
