Workers' compensation legal assistance may be required at times

Regardless of one's occupation, a serious injury can occur at any time and without warning. Though the vast majority of injured employees have a valid claim for benefits, at times, one may need workers' compensation legal assistance in order to get a claim processed successfully. South Carolina residents who have been injured on the job may qualify for these benefits.

Recently, one man suffered what were described by one account as serious injuries while on a job site. The report stated that the man was employed with a plumbing company that had been contracted through another business to provide assistance in completing a building project. During a short break in the afternoon, the worker retired to a portable toilet that was on-site.

While the 38-year-old worker was still inside the structure, a heavy steel beam somehow become dislodged or otherwise fell from the fifth floor of a nearby building. The large building material fell on top of the portable facility, crushing it. The man was trapped by the crumbled structure. A brief statement from the responding officers reported that the victim was transported with critical injuries.

Both the Department of Labor and officials from the local OSHA office are conducting a joint investigation into this terrible accident. According to the records, the company for whom the victim's employer was working has had several serious violations over the preceding 10 years, half of which included fatalities. The worker who was injured in this most recent accident may have suffered debilitating injuries that may require an extended recovery period. He will most likely file a claim for benefits from his state's workers' benefits program. South Carolina residents are assured of the right to obtain workers' compensation legal assistance if they encounter any difficulties during the claims process in order to have a qualifying claim processed as efficiently as possible to avoid undue delay in receiving these vital funds.
