Fatal South Carolina accident claims 3 lives; injures passenger

Life can be inexplicably cut short in the course of an ordinary day. In the wake of a horrific car crash, the lives of several South Carolina families have been forever changed. Police have arrested and charged a driver in the aftermath of the deadly collision.

According to the first responders, the fatal wreck occurred in the overnight hours of a recent weekend. The three victims were traveling down a local road when they approached an intersection. As the stop signal was green in their direction, they proceeded into the crossroad. Unfortunately, a 26-year-old man driving from an opposing direction failed to stop at the red light signal.

His car, which was purportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, slammed into the vehicle carrying two sisters and the fiance of one of them. All three of the passengers in the second car died at the scene. A passenger in the charged driver's car was transported for treatment of critical injuries. The driver was also taken for care of less serious injuries.

The driver is now facing several felonies, including three counts of DUI that involved death, one count of DUI involving serious injury and a charge of reckless homicide. The man was also purportedly in possession of an illegal substance at the time of his arrest. The victims' familes are now left to mourn the loss of their cherished loved ones, one of whom was pregnant and had a 2-year-old child. In these tragic circumstances, South Carolina familes may choose to seek information concerning the filing of personal injury or wrongful death civil suits against the parties deemed liable for their financial damages. While litigation cannot undo the damage that has been inflicted either physically or emotionally, a succussful case can result in compensation that can help alleviate the financial devastation these horrific and senseless crashes cause.
