Car crash kills motorcycle driver in South Carolina

In spite of the yearly public service campaigns that are promoted by law enforcement agencies and the highway safety groups, there are countless deadly accidents involving motorcycles and other automobiles. Sadly, many motorcyclists are killed in a car crash that occurs without warning with no time for them to take evasive actions. One South Carolina man recently became the latest victim of this type of accident.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred late on a weekend evening. A 47-year-old man was operating his motorcycle east along S.C. 160, just outside of a local town's limits. As the motorcyclist was approaching the entrance for a private driveway, a vehicle headed west attempted to execute a left turn into that drive. The resulting collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from his vehicle.

The victim was wearing protective head gear, but he suffered critical injuries. In spite of the attempts of the emergency crews who responded to the scene, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Reportedly, neither the 19-year-old motorist or his passenger suffered any injuries in the collision.

State police are investigating this crash and have not announced whether the driver will face any charges in connection with this fatal wreck. The victim's family are devastated by their sudden loss and may also struggle to manage the significant monetary damages that are often caused by these tragic events. South Carolina travelers who are injured -- or have lost loved ones -- due to a car crash that resulted from the negligence of another party are entitled to pursue compensation for their financial losses through the filing of a personal injury or wrongful death civil suit. An experienced attorney can provide further information regarding the successful filing of these types of civil lawsuits.
